PURPOSE:
The goal of this educational event is to present current information which will help Primary Care Physicians evaluate and manage patients with cardiac problems.
Target Audience:
Primary Care Physicians. In addition, we believe that Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Nurses and other healthcare workers will find the presentations useful.
Course Objectives:
Primary care physicians and others who attend this session will improve their abilities to:
- Evaluate patients with dizziness and syncope.
- Identify patients with atrial fibrillation who can benefit from restoration of sinus rhythm.
- Demonstrate understanding of basic issues for adult patients with congenital heart disease.
- Discuss potential for natural remedies to help and harm patients.
- Identify patients with valvular heart disease who may need therapy beyond medications.
- Analyze common abnormalities in patients' lipid profiles.
- Recognize patients with angina who need more treatment than conventional medical management.
- Demonstrate knowledge regarding current aggressive management of patients with acute myocardial infarction.
